Is this firepit actually smokeless?

No firepit is completely smokeless and this one is no different. What it does is reduce smoke significantly compared to an open fire pit or fire bowl. The double-walled design pulls air through vent holes so smoke gets burned off before it rises. Most owners report far less smoke and no stinging eyes when sat nearby, but you will still see some smoke, especially when first lighting it.

What fuel can I use in it?

You can burn wood logs, charcoal or wood pellets. Many owners find it burns through wood quickly, so keep a decent supply of logs or offcuts on hand if you plan a long evening around the fire. Pellets can be trickier to light but burn with fewer sparks than logs once going.

How heavy is it and can I move it around the garden?

The firepit weighs around 14.5kg, which is light enough to carry between two people or drag across grass or paving without much effort. It's not so light it will tip in a breeze, but it's far from a permanent fixed installation.

Can I use it on a wooden deck?

This is not recommended. The firepit gets very hot on the base and sides during use and there's a real risk of scorch marks or burn damage to wood decking. If you want to use it on a deck, place a proper heat-resistant fire mat underneath first.

Does it throw out sparks or embers?

Yes, like most wood-burning firepits it can throw sparks and embers, particularly when burning logs rather than pellets. There's no built-in spark guard, so keep furniture, clothing and anything flammable at a safe distance. Many owners fit a mesh spark screen over the top for extra safety, though this isn't included.

How do I clean out the ash?

There's a removable ash tray at the base. Once the fire's cooled fully, slide the tray out and tip the ash into a bin bag or metal container. It's worth doing this after every burn rather than letting ash build up, as a full tray can restrict airflow and make the next fire harder to get going.

Can I attach a grill to it?

Yes. There's a purpose-made hole in the design for fitting a swivel campfire grill grate. The grill itself is sold separately, but once fitted it lets you cook food over the flames while the firepit still functions as a normal fire.

Will the metal rust or discolour over time?

Some slight discolouration on the inner walls is normal after repeated use and doesn't affect how the firepit performs. The outer matte black finish holds up well through a summer of outdoor use according to owner feedback, though as with any iron product, storing it under cover when not in use will extend its life.
